Today I'd like to welcome to my blog, Stuart Kent, Children's Author. Stuart is 40 years old. He has spent time working as an outdoor instructor with children of all ages. He enjoys writing and often gives away short stories to family and friends every month.
Hello Stuart, thanks so much for joining me on my blog today. Just a few questions to throw at you to introduce you to the readers.
1. What made you want to become an author?
I’m not sure what made me want to become an author. I’ve always enjoyed writing since I was in young. I helped write a school play when I was about eight or nine, and have always had a interest ever since.
2. How hard was it to sit down and start that very first chapter?
I didn’t find it hard to start writing my first chapter at all, I had an idea of what I wanted to write and got on with it. I found it harder to know when to stop, that was more challenging for me.
3. What was your go to book as a child?
I never really had a go to book as a child. I’ve read several Roald Dahl books and the Lion witch and the wardrobe series, but never really had one I really went back to again and again.
4. What is the most important thing about a book in your opinion?
A good story. If the book has a good story, something really interesting or different that goes somewhere to a great finale then to me that’s a good book.
5. Any advice you would give to someone who wanted to start writing a book?
Yes. Write. And then write some more. And then write some more, and don’t stop until you’re done. I personally try and write something everyday, even if it’s just half an hour on a couple of pages.
6. Does your day job ever get in the way of your writing?
Yes my day job always comes first unfortunately, but until someone gives me a hefty pay check to write, that’s just the way it is.
7. What can we expect to see next from Stuart Kent?
Well I’m currently working on the third catchers story, and I have a few short story series I would like to see in print, so I’m really not sure what will be next.
8. If you could have written any book that is out there now, which one would it have been?
Sherlock Holmes or Dracula. I love those stories, and would love to have been the one to come up with them.
9. And last but not least, something close to my heart. How Important do you think Libraries are?
I think libraries are fairly important. For those who can't afford to buy books on a regular basis, libraries are a great source of entertainment and information, and of course in a way, they are guardians of literature. Like art galleries they preserve our written word for hopefully years to come. Which is why I am happy to donate my books to any library that would like them.
Thank you so much for joining me on my blog today Stuart. Now for everyone else, read on to see what Stuart's books can offer you and feel free to enter my competition at the end, to win an e-book of The Catchers.
